The permanent collection gallery honors our "Opening Minds Through Art" artists and their student mentors. The OMA program enhances the lives of JAA’s memory care residents by creating space for them to explore their artistic ability and to make lasting friendships.
Bonds between the resident artist and a partner volunteer, including art therapy students from Carlow University who mentor and help artists create, are at the heart of the program’s greatest achievements.
This is a culmination of the successful outcomes of our program in providing a nurturing environment where individuality is celebrated.
"Opening Minds Through Art" is a Scripps intergenerational art program for people living with dementia that promotes their social engagement, autonomy, and dignity through creative self-expression.
